Russian drones strike Ukraine’s energy sites, set apartment building ablaze in Dnipropetrovsk region

On the evening of Sunday, October 19, the Russians launched Shahed or Geran-type strike drones across Ukraine. In the Nizhyn district of the Chernihiv region, an energy facility was hit, and a five-story building caught fire in the Dnipropetrovsk region

Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Vladyslav Haivanenko, reported that last night Russian troops struck the Mezhova and Pokrovsk communities of the Synelnykove district with drones.

“A fire broke out in a five-story building. Shops also caught fire, and the local cultural center was damaged,” he said.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine clarified that as a result of the attack, four private houses, six outbuildings, and a power line were damaged in the Nikopol district. In the Synelnykove district, a five-story residential building and several shops caught fire, and the cultural center was damaged.

“All fires were quickly extinguished. No casualties were reported,” rescuers added.

Chernihiv region

According to Chernihivoblenergo, an energy facility in the Nizhyn district was hit, leaving 2,700 consumers without power.

“Energy crews have been working intensively since the evening to eliminate the damage, but it is very extensive. We are doing everything possible to restore power to our customers as quickly as possible, though it’s not easy,” the company said.
