Russian attack on Ukraine: Kharkiv hit twice, 20+ injured including children

On the evening of October 27, the Russian army launched Shahed UAVs and guided bombs at Ukraine. Kharkiv was attacked twice, resulting in injuries to more than 20 people, including children

Air defense operations and explosions 

The Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported the movement of Russian drones in the area, confirming that air defense forces were active in the Kyiv region.

At 07:22 a.m., Suspilne reported explosions in the Khmelnytskyi region.

At 07:33 a.m., the Kyiv Regional Military Administration again confirmed that air defense forces were active.

At 07:56 a.m., an explosion was also heard in Sumy, according to Suspilne.

Sumy region

The Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that Russian had struck energy facilities of critical infrastructure in Konotop district with a drone.

“All necessary services are working on the spot. Restoration work is underway,” they added.

Kyiv region

The Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that debris from downed enemy targets damaged one private house in the region. Windows were shattered, and the grass flooring caught fire, which was quickly extinguished.

Attack on Kharkiv city and the region

At 8:34 p.m. on the previous day, the Ukrainian Air Force issued a warning of a guided aerial bomb heading toward Kharkiv. 

A minute later, Kharkiv's mayor, Ihor Terekhov, reported explosions, with strikes impacting Shevchenkivskyi, Kyivskyi, and Saltivskyi districts. Initial reports noted damage to private houses in Saltivskyi and injuries to a woman there, with more injuries later reported in Shevchenkivskyi.

By 9:24 p.m., two people were confirmed injured in Shevchenkivskyi district: a 51-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman. 

By 10:14 p.m., casualties rose to four, and by 11:30 p.m., six injuries were confirmed, including three in Shevchenkivskyi and three in Saltivskyi districts.

At 2:13 a.m., another strike targeted Kholodnohirsk district, hitting a nine-story residential building, causing a fire and significant damage. 

By 3 a.m., there were four more injuries, and by 5:30 a.m., seven more people, including a child, were reported injured.

In Chuhuiv, Russian struck a private household, destroying an outbuilding but causing no casualties. 

By morning, Terekhov updated the total casualties: six in the evening strikes and seven in the night attacks, including a 16-year-old girl. 

As of 7:41 a.m., Ukraine’s State Emergency Service confirmed a total of 21 injured, including five children.
