On the night of April 11, Russia struck at least 10 times at the critical infrastructure of Kharkiv city and the region, completely destroying a transformer substation and damaging a thermal power plant

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov shared the information, the press service of the city council reports.

According to him, in the Kharkiv region, the thermal power plant that supplies the city was damaged and a transformer substation was completely destroyed. Kharkiv has received generators and fuel from the Office of the President and other cities of Ukraine.

"We have restored the subway, launched trolleybus and some tram routes. But Kharkiv really needs a modern air defense system now. Without it, everything we restore will be attacked by the enemy again," the mayor emphasized.

In the afternoon, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that about 240,000 Kharkiv region subscribers had no power supply. More than 150 points with heat, water, electricity, mobile service, etc. have been deployed. Social and medical facilities are functioning normally thanks to alternative power supply.

In turn, Kharkiv Mayor Iрor Terekhov announced the launch of the subway. However, due to the lack of electricity, the train interval will be at least 20 minutes.

Around 5 am, the mayor reported explosions in Kharkiv. Meanwhile, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, said that Russia had struck the city five times. Later he announced that there were 9 strikes.

"There may be power outages. At the moment there is no information about the victims. The data is being updated," said Syniehubov.

According to him, Russian forces struck at least 10 times at the critical infrastructure of Kharkiv and the region. As of 05:38 am, the authorities were already recording power outages.

Later, Volodymyr Tymoshko, head of the National Police in the Kharkiv region, said that Russian troops had probably struck with S-300 air defense systems.

Oleksiy Kuleba, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said that the attack left more than 200,000 Kharkiv consumers without power.

"The subway is working as a shelter.  Power engineers and specialized services are analyzing the consequences of the terrorist attack. Experts, local and regional authorities are working to eliminate the consequences of the attack as soon as possible," he added.

The Prosecutor General's Office said that the Russian army attacked the region with at least ten S-300 missiles from the territory of the Belgorod region.

As a result, there was damage to residential buildings and administrative buildings.

  • On the night of April 11, Russians launched a massive air attack on Ukrainian territory.
