Russian attack potential will be exhausted by end of September: Ukraine's military on situation in Pokrovsk
Reserve Major of the National Guard of Ukraine, veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war Oleksiy Hetman noted that the battle for Pokrovsk could last for months
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
“There is no need to spread panic about the loss of Pokrovsk, as if it will lead to global and catastrophic consequences in the Russian-Ukrainian war. Similar predictions have already been made when we were retreating from Bakhmut with fighting, and it was said that this would give the Russians the opportunity to advance north of Bakhmut to Kupyansk, Lyman, Vuhledar and surround a significant part of our troops. But this did not happen. They continued their offensive, and we were forced to retreat from Avdiivka. At the time, there were also statements that it was a disaster and that everything was lost. Now there are similar talks about Pokrovsk. However, the battle for Pokrovsk may last for months,” noted Hetman.
According to the veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the Russians may try to bypass Pokrovsk, as combat operations in urban areas always drag on.
“Currently, we are retreating one kilometer in three to four days due to the enemy's fierce pressure. But no army can attack endlessly. Sooner or later, according to forecasts, by the end of September, and most likely even earlier, the Russians' ability to attack with such intensity will be exhausted,” emphasized Hetman.
- Since the beginning of August 28, 182 combat clashes have taken place at the front. Russians are focusing their main offensive efforts on the Pokrovsk direction.
- The Russian occupation army is actively preparing for new assault operations in the Pokrovsk sector. The Russian army has advanced near 6 settlements.
