The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ General Staff reported this on April 19.

Over the last day, 79 combat engagements took place at the front. In total, Russia launched 25 missile strikes, 52 airstrikes, and 42 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties. Multi-storey and private houses, as well as other infrastructure facilities, were destroyed and damaged.

Frontline situation

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 10 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked.

In the Kupyansk sector, Russia did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions. About 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled nine attacks near the towns of Tverdokhlibove and Kreminna in the Luhansk region, and Terny in the Donetsk region, where the Russian army tried to break through the defense. Artillery and mortar shelling affected more than 10 localities.

In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 15 attacks near the towns of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region; Verkhnekamianske, Spirne, Chasiv Yar, and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region, where the Russian troops, with the support of air power, tried to improve the tactical situation. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 26 attacks near Novokalynove, Ocheretyne, Berdychi, Umanske, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region, where the Russians tried to push Ukrainian units out of their positions. About 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the Russian troops near Novomykhailivka and Pobieda in the Donetsk region, where the Russian army, with the support of aviation, tried to break through the defense 16 times. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Orikhiv sector, the Russian forces, with the support of aviation, attacked the Ukrainian positions 4 times near Staromaiorske, Donetsk region, and northwest of Verbove, Zaporizhzhia region. About 20 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kherson sector, Russia does not abandon its intention to force Ukrainian units from their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Thus, during the day, with the support of aviation, the invading forces carried out 6 unsuccessful attacks on the Ukrainian positions near the village of Krynky, Kherson region. About 20 settlements were subjected to artillery and mortar attacks.

Ukrainian strikes against Russian military positions

Over the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 6 Russian manpower concentration areas and 1 control center.

  • On April 18, 71 combat engagements took place at the front.
