Russian army tries to break through Ukrainian defense 21 times in Novopavlivka sector - General Staff

Russian attacks across Ukraine

In total, Russia launched 3 missile strikes, 61 airstrikes, and 70 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops’ positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties. Multi-storey and private houses, as well as other infrastructure facilities, were destroyed and damaged.

Frontline situation 

There were 58 combat engagements during the day.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: about 40 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

In the Kupyansk sector, Russia did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian soldiers repelled six enemy attacks near Terny and Spirne in the Donetsk region, where the Russian army tried to break through the Ukrainian defense. Artillery and mortar shelling affected about 15 settlements.

In the Bakhmut sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled five enemy attacks in the vicinity of Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka in the Donetsk region, where the Russian army was trying to improve its tactical position. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 Russian attacks in the vicinity of Berdychi, Orlivka, Tonenke, and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region. About 15 localities came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding back the Russian troops in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, tried to break through the Ukrainian defense 21 times. More than 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Orikhiv sector, Russia attacked the Ukrainian troops’ positions 6 times in the areas of Robotyne and west of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region. About 20 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kherson sector, Russia fired artillery and mortar shells at more than 20 localities.

Ukrainian strikes against Russian military positions 

Over the course of the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 8 Russian military positions.

Missile troops destroyed 1 Russian manpower concentration area, 1 electronic warfare station, and 1 air defense system.

• There were 63 combat engagements at the front over the last day. Russian troops attacked in 6 frontline areas, but Ukrainian defenders repelled the assaults and killed 850 Russian soldiers.
