Russian army tries to attack Ukrainian positions 52 times in 6 directions

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this on March 20.

Russian attacks across Ukraine

During the day, Russia launched 2 missile strikes, 54 airstrikes, and 41 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops’ positions and populated areas. Russian terrorist attacks resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Multistory and private houses were destroyed and damaged.

Frontline situation 

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 20 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

In the Kupyansk sector, Russia did not conduct any assault operations. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 10 enemy attacks near the towns of Bilohorivka and Zolotarivka in the Luhansk region and Yampolivka, Terny, Rozdolivka, and Vesele in the Donetsk region, where the Russian army, supported by air power, tried to break through the Ukrainian defense. Artillery and mortar shelling affected more than 15 settlements.

In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian troops repelled five enemy attacks in the vicinity of Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region. About 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 11 enemy attacks in the areas of Berdychi, Semenivka, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, Netailove, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region. About 20 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the Russian army in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka, Vodiane, and Urozhaine, where the Russian troops, with the support of aviation, tried to break through the Ukrainian defense 18 times. About 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Orikhiv sector, the Russian troops attacked the Ukrainian army's positions 5 times with the support of aviation near Staromaiorske, Donetsk region, and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region. About 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kherson sector, the Russian army made three attacks on the Ukrainian positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River over the last day. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

Ukrainian attacks on Russian military positions 

Over the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 10 Russian military positions.

Missile troops struck the Russian ammunition depot.

• At least 80 combat engagements took place at the front over the last day, March 19. The Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 700 soldiers.
• On March 20, Artem Lysohor, head of the Luhansk Military District Administration, reported that Serebrianske forestry and Bilohorivka were under constant enemy ground attacks.
