Russia tries to break through Ukrainian defense near Chasiv Yar
Commander of the Ukrainian Land Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi visits military units and subdivisions holding defense in the Bakhmut direction
The press service of the Ukrainian Land Forces reports.
It is noted that the situation in the Bakhmut direction is currently tense and requires constant monitoring of the situation and prompt decision-making on the ground. "The enemy is trying to break through Ukrainian defenses in the area of Chasiv Yar and is resorting to localized actions by small assault groups under the cover of drones and artillery. They are widely using kamikaze drones and electronic warfare," the command said.
Oleksandr Syrskyi listened to the brigade commanders about the current situation, assessed the effectiveness of fire damage and considered new ways to improve the firepower of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
He also discussed with the commanders of units and subdivisions the likely tactics of the Russian troops and options for further development of hostilities. They also reportedly planned scenarios to repel the Russian forces and prevent their advance.
"Based on the results of work in the Bakhmut direction, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi made a number of decisions. In particular, to focus main efforts on threatening areas and to use firepower maneuvers. The commander, as always, drew the attention of the commanders to the key priority - saving the lives of Ukrainian soldiers and minimizing losses," the statement reads.
On February 3, in order to resolve issues that are critical to the sustainability of defense, Army Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi ordered the redeployment of forces and assets.
