Russia won’t sustain a long war, says head of Ground Forces Reserves Council Tymochko
Ivan Tymochko, Head of the Ground Forces Reserves Council of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, noted that the duration of the war will depend on several factors that are already taking shape
He shared this during his interview on Espreso.
"Unfortunately, we see that the enemy has tasked its forces to maximize their offensive actions. Increasingly, we hear concerns about the threat of an enemy attack on the Sumy region, about the occupiers gathering forces on the Dnipro direction. There is also more talk about the Russian military attempting to break through to the administrative borders of the Dnipropetrovsk region, trying to fulfill vague hints from Putin or his politicians. These are real challenges and threats we are facing," said Ivan Tymochko.
In his opinion, several factors that will affect the duration of the war are already forming, but at this stage, we still cannot see them as basic enough to estimate how quickly the war will end.
"It is certain that Russia, in current conditions, cannot sustain a long war, as they talk about decades or even half a decade. It's unclear whether their economy and state can hold up for even a quarter of a decade. The more aggressive bravado from Russia, as a rule, the less prepared this country is for war. We have also historically observed this," commented the head of the Ground Forces Reserves Council of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that on May 16th, 145 combat clashes occurred on the Russian-Ukrainian front. In the Pokrovsk direction, the Defense Forces of Ukraine stopped 52 enemy assaults.
