Russia unable to completely destroy Ukraine's energy system — expert
Energy expert Hennadiy Riabtsev believes that Russia does not have sufficient military potential to completely destroy Ukraine's energy system
He shared his opinions on Espreso TV.
"Russia continues to follow its tactic of concentrating strike resources on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Someone convinced the Russian leadership that they could destroy Ukraine's energy system this way. This is impossible. Even military theorists have proven this. In the U.S., dissertations have been written on this topic, showing that the U.S. is incapable of fully destroying the energy infrastructure of any country. The effectiveness of such strikes is very low. I don't think the Russian Armed Forces have a greater military potential for this goal than the Americans. However, as we can see, the Russians continue to strike Ukraine's energy sector," explained Riabtsev.
According to the expert, strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure are accelerating the modernization of facilities. He noted that energy workers are carrying out complex tasks to avoid future issues.
"Of course, there are losses in Ukraine's infrastructure. However, consumers still have electricity, gas, etc. Right now, energy workers are doing their job to protect us from major problems in the future. This work is yielding results. We can see that Ukraine's energy system is changing. I would even say that Russian strikes are accelerating Ukraine's energy transition and the renewal of facilities that would have remained unchanged if there had been no war," he added.
- On the evening of Thursday, March 6, the Russian army launched drones against Ukraine. Overnight on March 7, Russia targeted energy and gas infrastructure with missiles. Injuries were reported in the Kharkiv and Poltava regions.
