Russia trying to establish foothold in Basivka, Sumy region — DeepState
Invading Russian army continues to assault the village of Basivka in the Yunakivka community of Sumy region, trying to gain a foothold in the settlement
Ruslan Mikula, co-founder of the analytical project DeepState, stated this, according to Suspilne.
According to him, Basivka is the largest village on the border with Russia that has shelters. The invaders could use it as a staging point for further assaults in the direction of Yunakivka.
“There are some shelters, there are basements, and something has been dug out there, especially over the last six months. For the enemy, it’s a good stronghold for further assault actions toward Yunakivka. Because in Zhuravka there’s almost nothing. The same situation is in Veselivka. In Novenke, there were only two basements for the whole village. That village doesn’t even exist anymore—just two basements where one could hide. That’s why they’re storming Basivka. There are shelters there, a place to gather. Not very strategic, but the village has important value for the Russian army,” Mikula stated.
He added that logistics for Ukrainian forces near Basivka are not being carried out. Instead, Russian troops are trying to enter the village in small assault groups.
- Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed to have allegedly captured the village of Basivka in the Sumy region. However, according to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, this is an enemy fake.
