Russian troops try to break through Ukrainian defenses in Kupyansk forest - Ukraine's top general

"The situation in the Kupyansk sector remains difficult. The Russian enemy continues to conduct active offensive actions in the Kupyansk forest, trying to break through the defenses of our troops and advance towards the city. Intense hostilities in this area began in October 2023, and since then the fierce struggle has not stopped," Syrskyi said in a commentary to Interfax-Ukraine.

"Russian army storms settlements, shells them with artillery and uses aviation every day. Now Russian troops are storming our positions in the area of Synkivka with the aim of further blocking Kupyansk," he added.

The general stressed that the commanders and staffs of Ukrainian units are well aware of the situation, constantly conducting reconnaissance, analyzing Russia's actions and making all necessary decisions.

“Ukrainian soldiers are giving an adequate response to Russian enemy and destroying its plans. The situation in this area is constantly escalating, but Ukrainian Defense Forces manage to destroy Russia's offensive potential and inflict significant losses," Ukraine' Ground Forces Commander noted.
