Russia targets only civilians in Odesa, local deputy says
Russian forces targeted exclusively civilian residential buildings in Odessa during overnight attack
Odesa City Council member Andriy Vagapov said this on Espreso TV.
"Russia attacked Odessa with Shahed drones. The strikes were exclusively on civilians, not even on infrastructure facilities. In particular, dormitories were hit. The dormitories of the National University of Law, as well as two other higher education institutions, were affected.
It is worth noting that Odessans have finally started using the ‘two walls’ rule. This sometimes helps to protect from the consequences of such strikes. Therefore, there are casualties in Odesa, but it could have been much worse given the number of enemy strikes. Even the promenade near the dolphin park suffered from enemy shelling," Vagapov said.
The council member emphasized that there is no panic among the people of Odesa. On the contrary, after such horrific terrorist attacks, people unite and try to help those who suffered in any way they can.
"In times like these, people come together even more. They help each other. Odesa residents in slippers helped carry out a woman who was trapped in one of the buildings. I want to stress that there is no panic in Odessa. It’s difficult, but after such strikes people try to help everyone as much as possible. People definitely are not standing aside," he added.
