Russia attacks Ukraine with over 3,000 guided bombs in month - Zelenskyy
Within a month, the invading Russian forces used 3,200 guided bombs to strike the Ukrainian territory
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this at a press conference.
"The most important problem that exists today is that the Russian Federation uses more than 3,000 guided aerial bombs per month to target people. We believe that next month there may be 3,500, this month - 3,200. Thousands of bombs are being dropped on people's heads. How can we fight this? There are not enough air defence missiles to stop thousands of bombs a month," he said.
The Ukrainian president also stressed the state's need for Patriot systems.
"We are asking the world to at least help with an additional 7 Patriot systems. We need at least two systems for Kharkiv alone. Because the Russian Federation uses these bombs from aircraft, and if you have modern Patriot systems, these aircraft will not be able to fly so close," Zelenskyy said.
He added that such systems are needed to protect Kharkiv from attacks by Russian bombs.
"I'm not talking about dozens of systems to close the sky over Ukraine, I'm talking about at least not allowing Russia to use bombs. Even those partners who are afraid to provide this or that weapon should understand that air defence is defence, not offence. It is defence, not offence," the president said.
- On May 27, it was reported that some NATO countries are ready to expand their support for Kyiv and act directly on the territory of Ukraine - the possibility of closing the skies with air defence systems in western Ukraine is being discussed.
