Russia strikes Ukrainian Navy ship Simferopol

Ukrainian Navy spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk said this on Espreso TV.

"One of our ships was hit yesterday. As for the means of attack — an examination is currently underway. Unfortunately, we have one more fatality: his body was found during emergency search-and-rescue operations. The search-and-rescue operation continues. The rest of the crew are safe. Unfortunately, there are also wounded, but the situation is under control," Pletenchuk said.

The Ukrainian Navy spokesman added that a legal assessment is currently being carried out in accordance with Ukrainian law.

"Unfortunately, sometimes it works the other way around too, but that does not mean we will stop. We will continue to carry out the tasks assigned to us — ensuring the safety of civilian shipping, guarding our maritime area, and defending the coast," Pletenchuk emphasized.
