Russia ramps up infantry assaults amid tactical changes in Ukraine — military
Russian forces are increasingly relying on infantry assaults, reducing the use of light vehicles in some areas, with heavy equipment mainly used in the Pokrovsk direction
Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Khortytsia operational-strategic group of troops, said this on Hromadske Radio.
According to him, the number of infantry assaults in the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia group has increased. This is because it is easier for infantry to move through bushes, thickets, and forested terrain during the summer, allowing them to assault Ukrainian positions.
"Heavy equipment is indeed used very sparingly—usually only in the Pokrovsk direction, if we’re talking about areas within our responsibility. Otherwise, assaults are carried out mostly not even with light vehicles, but on foot. This makes sense, since it’s summer, there’s dense vegetation, and it’s possible to approach Ukrainian positions and attempt to infiltrate," the Khortytsia spokesperson said.
He noted that such actions by Russian forces are sometimes effective. However, overall, they continue to use motorcycles during assaults as well.
