Russia poised to strike Ukraine's Sumy with FPV drones as forces advance
The Russian forces have managed to advance to within 20 kilometers of Sumy, so over time, FPV drone strikes on the city can be expected
The OSINT information project DeepState reported the information.
Russia has completely occupied the settlements of Kindrativka and Oleksiivka, is accumulating infantry there, and continues its attempts to move deeper into the territory. According to analysts, the next settlement in the Russians' path is Khotin, which they aim to occupy and secure, as well as attempts to enter Mala Korchakivka.
"In this area, the Russians managed to reach a distance of 20 kilometers to Sumy, so over time, FPV drone strikes on the city can be expected when the appropriate crews are brought in and there is no hunting for them on our part," DeepState explained.
The situation is also difficult in the Novomykolaivka-Varachyne-Yablunivka-Yunakivka section. The enemy has approached these settlements closely and is trying to occupy them completely and secure them as well. Damage is being recorded around Yablunivka, and the Russians are also trying to enter Yunakivka, but there is nowhere to hide there because they have destroyed everything. Separately, it is worth paying attention to the Loknia area, where the enemy is trying to enter east of the village and go into the forests in the direction of Sadky.
"If the enemy's infantry gets in there, it will be extremely difficult to dislodge them," the experts emphasized.
According to them, the main resource of the Russian army is the prevailing number of infantry. For this, the enemy concentrated significant forces in this area after displacing the Ukrainian units in the Kursk region. Various drones serve as fire support, but it is worth noting that in the Sumy region, as well as in many other areas, the enemy almost does not use equipment, but puts its efforts on infantry (often on motorcycles) and on drones that knock out logistics and positions.
Sumy residents are urged to evacuate
Former spokesman of the General Staff, reserve colonel, military expert Vladyslav Selezniov advises residents of Sumy to evacuate to safer regions. He said this in an interview with Glavred. He added that the Russian army is actively shelling the city.
"Therefore, I advise the residents of Sumy - at least to take children and elderly people to safer regions of the country and be prepared to defend the city, because the enemy is carrying out Putin's order," the military expert stressed.
At the same time, Selezniov is convinced that the enemy plans to focus its main efforts on the Donetsk region - Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka and Kostiantynivka will be priority targets for the Russians.
On the morning of Tuesday, June 3, Russian forces struck the central part of Sumy. As a result, five people died and 30 were injured. Days of mourning were declared in the city.
