Russia aims to boost offensive power with 10–15 new divisions — Ukrainian military
Invading Russian forces plan to increase their offensive potential and conduct active combat operations at least until late autumn
Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman Ihor Lutsenko said this on Espreso TV.
"This is an indirect indication of the tasks given to commanders in the armed forces of the Russian Federation. Overall, a logical analysis of the situation also points to such a scenario, as the fighting on the battlefield has no impact whatsoever on any peace negotiations. The war continues according to its own laws and scenarios," he noted.
On many parts of the front, the Russian offensive momentum has significantly weakened, and they failed to achieve their desired results in Pokrovsk, Belgorod, and Kursk regions. Lutsenko suggested that the occupiers may seek new opportunities to intensify actions in other directions, such as the Kharkiv region.
"Russian forces aim to build up their offensive groups to 10–15 divisions. Accordingly, Ukraine needs to have at least comparable strength - such as one brigade for each Russian division - to effectively counter their plans this season," said a Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman.
As for the nature of the Russian offensive, their offensives are taking place every day, although the scale is limited - they advance several hundred meters. The likelihood of an avalanche-like build-up of the offensive is low, Lutsenko said.
"The new divisions will likely be used depending on the enemy’s operational-tactical conditions and their ability to concentrate resources. Russia’s political leadership is eager to seize as much territory as possible, as quickly as possible. Countering these plans will be the task of Russian military experts advising Putin - for example, to concentrate resources at specific points along the front. Currently, Russian resources are being prepared for immediate or near-immediate attacks on Ukrainian positions, likely to create the impression that Russia supposedly seeks peace," he added.
