Russia plans to increase number of troops in Ukraine to 690,000 - Ukraine’s top general
Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi says Russia intends to increase the number of troops in Ukraine to 690,000 by late 2024
Syrskyi said this in an interview with the Guardian.
According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief, the Russian army is outnumbered in terms of military equipment, including tanks, armored personnel carriers, and personnel.
Syrskyi said that Russia had 100,000 soldiers at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Now this number has increased to 520,000, and by the end of the year Russia wants to increase the number of troops to 690,000.
“When it comes to equipment, there is a ratio of 1:2 or 1:3 in their favor,” he said.
For example, since 2022, the number of Russian tanks has doubled from 1,700 to 3,500. Artillery systems have tripled, and armored personnel carriers have increased from 4,500 to 8,900.
"The enemy has a significant advantage in force and resources. Therefore, for us, the issue of supply, the issue of quality, is really at the forefront,” Syrskyi said.
