Russia needs 5–7 days to prepare a 1,000-drone Shahed attack — aviation expert
Russia could be preparing coordinated drone attacks involving 800 to 1,000 Shahed UAVs, but it would take 5 to 7 days to accumulate and prepare that number of drones
This was stated by aviation expert and member of the Public Council under the State Aviation Service, Bohdan Dolintse, during a broadcast on Espreso TV.
"Today, we see that Russia has reached a production volume of about 5,000 various types of drones per month, including around 2,700 Shahed UAVs. They’ve also learned how to carry out massive, swarm-style drone attacks. They stockpile the drones and then launch coordinated strikes," Dolintse explained.
The expert emphasized that the main limitation for the enemy now is the number of crews capable of launching such a large number of UAVs.
"The most massive Shahed drone attack on Ukraine so far involved over 500 drones. However, given their current approach, they may be able to increase this number to 800 or even 1,000 drones per attack by autumn of this year.
The key constraint will be the capacity to train enough launch crews for these systems. Also, to carry out an attack involving 800 drones, Russia would need 5 to 7 days to gather the required number," he concluded.
- In the early hours of Saturday, June 21, the occupying Russian army launched strike drones across Ukrainian territory. The attack affected several regions, injuring three people.
- Massive Russian missile strike on June 17 killed 28 in Kyiv.
