Russian forces launch overnight drone attack on Ukraine: injuries reported in several regions

In the early hours of Saturday, June 21, the occupying Russian army launched strike drones targeting Ukrainian territory. As a result of the attack on multiple regions, three people were injured

Zaporizhzhia Region: Pregnant woman injured

The Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration reported that a pregnant woman was wounded.

"She is being taken to the hospital with mine-blast injuries to her limbs and abdomen. She is receiving all necessary medical assistance," wrote regional head Ivan Fedorov at 9:39 p.m.

At 2:25 a.m., Fedorov reported that air defense systems were operating in the region.

Air defense activated in Kyiv region

At 9:44 p.m., the Kyiv Regional Military Administration (KOVA) issued an air raid alert. At 10:37 p.m., enemy drone movements were detected, and air defenses responded.

At 10:51 p.m., the Air Force warned of drones heading toward the capital from the northeast.

Strike on Sumy

At 10:44 p.m., Acting Mayor of Sumy Artem Kobzar reported that a Russian drone had struck a residential apartment building. One woman was injured in the attack.

As of 11:19 p.m., the head of Sumy Regional Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, stated that the drone strike damaged the roof and about 20 windows in two five-story residential buildings.

Preliminary reports indicate that the drone was a Lancet"type.

"The injured person is a 75-year-old woman who was at home during the attack. She sustained shrapnel wounds and has been hospitalized," he wrote.

Attack on Poltava region

At 12:32 a.m., local media reported explosions in Kremenchuk, Poltava region.

In the morning, the head of the regional administration confirmed that the enemy had launched another massive combined attack overnight.

Direct hits and debris impact were recorded in the Kremenchuk district, affecting energy infrastructure sites and open areas.

As a result, one person sustained moderate injuries.

As later reported by the National Police, cluster submunitions were found in Kremenchuk district after a Russian strike. These pose a deadly threat to civilians.

“They look like metal spheres about 10 cm in diameter, resembling toys or balls, which makes them especially dangerous for children,” the police added.

Explosions in Odesa

At 1:50 a.m., explosions were heard in Odesa, according to local media.

  • On the night of June 20, Ukraine’s Defense Forces shot down 70 out of 86 Shahed-type attack drones launched by the Russian army against Ukrainian territory.
