Russia loses air defense system, 20 tanks, 35 AFVs and 920 soldiers in one day of war in Ukraine — General Staff

Ukrainian troops repulsed 122 attacks in 8 directions. Meanwhile, 127 combat clashes took place on the frontline yesterday. Ukrainian Armed Forces eliminated 920 Russian soldiers

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff shared their regular report, as below.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to January 19, 2024, amounted to:

  • personnel – about 374,520 (+920 per day)
  • tanks ‒  6,167 (+20)
  • armored fighting vehicles ‒ 11,445 (+35)
  • artillery systems – 8,854 (+19)
  • MLRS – 966
  • air defense systems ‒ 654 (+1) 
  • aircraft – 331
  • helicopters – 324
  • UAV operational-tactical level – 6,929 (+4) 
  • cruise missiles ‒ 1,818
  • warships/boats ‒ 23
  • submarines – 1
  • vehicles and tank trucks – 11,831 (+37)
  • special equipment ‒ 1,384 (+4)

General Staff report: 127 combat clashes take place at the frontline, Ukrainian Armed Forces repel Russian attacks in 8 directions

The operational situation has not changed in the area of the Ukrainian border with Belarus.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 18 Russian attacks near Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Tabaivka, and Berestove, Kharkiv region. 

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian forces rebuffed 15 attacks near 2 settlements in the Donetsk region and another 8 attacks near Serebryanka forestry and Bilohorivka, Luhansk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 2 Russia's attacks near Bohdanivka, Donetsk region. 

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukraine continues to hold back the Russian invading forces, who keep trying to surround Avdiivka. Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully repelled 27 attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Novokalynove, Avdiivka and another 17 attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske, Donetsk region, over the past day.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders are holding back Russian troops near Marinka and Novomykhailivka, and Krasnohorivka, Donetsk region, where they repelled 15 Russian attacks.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Ukrainian troops fended off 4 attacks west of Staromayorske and south of Urozhayne, Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 5 attacks west of Verbove, Robotyne and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are expanding the bridgehead. Despite significant losses, Russian troops are trying to drive Ukrainian units from their positions. Over the past day, Russia carried out 11 unsuccessful assault operations.

Russia launches 2 missile strikes and 81 air strikes on Ukraine

Over the past day, 127 combat clashes took place. In total, Russia launched 2 missile strikes and 81 air strikes, and 45 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas.

Russia launched air strikes at 15 Ukrainian settlements. 

Over 110 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.

Ukrainian defense forces destroy a concentration of Russian personnel and 2 control points

Over the past day, Ukrainian aviation struck 5 concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment.

Ukrainian missile units struck 1 concentration of Russian personnel and 2 control points.

  • Over the day, 114 combat clashes took place between Russian and Ukrainian forces. Russia launched 1 missile and 48 air strikes, and 38 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.
