Russia likely to launch more missile strikes ahead of May 9 — diplomat
Diplomat Valeriy Chaly noted that it was no secret and followed the logic of all previous actions by Russian criminals that the aggressor country would intensify terrorist attacks on Ukraine before 'Trump's 100 days'
He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.
"When talking about the timing of negotiations, we know that Donald Trump wants to achieve a quick ceasefire or truce. It was no secret and aligned with the logic of all previous actions by Russian criminals that they would intensify terrorist strikes on Ukraine to match the '100 days of Trump' timeline. The goal was to ensure that Russian demands, conveyed through a mediator, in this case, Steve Witkoff, reached the Ukrainian side, while using terrorist attacks to break the will of the Ukrainian people so that any conditions from Russia would be accepted," the diplomat commented.
According to him, on one hand, Russia cannot constantly carry out such airstrikes because if it could, it would do so daily, but it doesn’t have enough missiles. Therefore, the aggressor country will intensify these strikes until it becomes clear that Trump’s “quick” plans were not implemented, meaning no result was achieved.
"Therefore, we should also expect such terrorist strikes in the coming weeks, at least until May 9. We must be warned about this. But here, Russia cannot dominate, although people are dying, it does not bring them any military advantage. The key events are taking place on the ground, where drones and infantry are at work. This was a psychological attack, blatantly aimed at Ukrainian citizens," noted Valeriy Chaly.
- On the night of April 24, Russia attacked Ukraine with drones and missiles. In Kyiv, people were killed as a result of a UAV attack, and fires broke out in several districts of the city. There is destruction in the region. Ukrainian defenders shot down 48 missiles and 64 drones.
