Russia lacks resources for Sumy breakthrough — military expert
The Russians will not succeed in turning the Sumy region into a scorched earth and making it uninhabitable
Defense Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi said this on Espreso TV.
“If the Russians were unable to turn the eastern border of Sumy region - in particular, the ten-kilometer zone, the city of Hlukhiv and the entire Hlukhiv district - into a scorched desert, despite the fact that the situation there was much worse at the time, why should they be able to do it now with the north of Sumy region, where the situation has already improved,” Kyrychevskyi said.
According to the military expert, the Sumy region has problems with air defense and appropriate cover. But where do we not have them?
"50,000 troops is not enough for even a slow breakthrough towards Sumy. In order to attack Sumy in the same mode as the Russians were able to take Avdiivka, they need to concentrate a group of about 150,000 and spend at least nine months on it," Kyrychevskyi said.
The military expert added that the Sumy region is under a real threat of Russian terrorist shelling.
"But they will not be able to turn a large region into a scorched earth and make it literally uninhabitable on Putin's orders. This is an exaggeration," Kyrychevskyi emphasized.
