Russian aviation activity intensifies near Sumy region border: frontline situation

Since the start of August 7, there have been 54 combat engagements along the frontline. Near the border of the Sumy region, Russian forces have increased their aviation activity, dropping approximately 30 aerial guided bombs

Ukraine's General Staff reported the information as of 4:00 p.m.

Today's activities have seen a rise in Russian aviation operations in the Sumy region’s border areas. The attacks have targeted Bilovody, Kyianytsia, Zhuravka, and several other villages and towns.

Border settlements in northern Ukraine are also experiencing ongoing shelling from Russian territory. Affected areas include Bachivsk, Tovstodubove, Kucherivka, Nova Huta, Romashkove, and Pokrovka.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv sector, Russian forces launched two attacks on Ukrainian defensive lines near Tykhe and Vovchansk. Fighting is still ongoing.

In the Kupyansk sector, Russia attempted two assaults near Petropavlivka and in the direction of Novooosynove, both of which were unsuccessful.

In the Lyman sector, Russian forces attacked eleven times. Four of these attacks are currently ongoing in the Nevske area and the Serebryansky forest. The situation remains under control.

In the Siversk sector, Russia tried to advance four times during the day in the areas of Verkhniokamianske and Pereizne. Ukrainian troops successfully repelled three of these attacks, and one firefight is still ongoing.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Russian forces, supported by army aviation, launched an unsuccessful assault near Chasiv Yar. Another battle is still ongoing in the area.

In the Toretsk sector, Russia conducted seven attacks in the areas of Toretsk, Pivnichne, and New York. Two firefights are currently ongoing. Additionally, Russian forces bombarded Toretsk six times and struck New York and Kurdiumivka twice with unguided aircraft missiles

In the Pokrovsk sector, since the beginning of the day, Russia has carried out assault operations in Panteleimonivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Novooleksandrivka, Hrodivka, Zhelanne, Novozhelanne, and Yasnobrodivka. The Ukrainian Defense Forces have repelled eight attacks and are currently engaged in nine more clashes. Russia’s losses are still being assessed.

In the Kurakhove sector, Russia launched four attacks near Paraskoviivka and Kostiantynivka using unguided aerial missiles. The fighting is ongoing.

In the Vremivka sector, the Russian army attempted to breach Ukrainian defenses twice from the direction of Volodymyrivka, but both attacks were unsuccessful.

In the Orikhiv sector, there were no active offensive actions from Russia. However, they fired over fifty unguided aerial missiles at Lobkove, Piatykhatky, and Novoandriivka.

In the Prydniprovskyi sector, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled one Russian attack.

  • Over the past day, the Russian army lost 1,230 soldiers in the war in Ukraine. Ukrainian forces also eliminated 8 tanks and 67 artillery systems.
