69 clashes reported at front: Russian forces shell Sumy region, attempt breakthrough near Chasiv Yar

Since the beginning of the day, May 12th, there have been 69 combat clashes at the front. Russian forces are storming Ukrainian positions in 8 directions

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Stuff reported the information.

“The Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the Russian advance and taking measures to prevent the enemy from advancing deeper into Ukrainian territory. As of now, 69 combat clashes have taken place,” the department reported.

Today, artillery and mortar fire from the enemy affected the communities of the settlements of Arkhipivka, Klyusy in the Chernihiv region, Prokhody, Oleksandrivka, Starykove, Bratenytsya, Marchikhina Buda, and Slavgorod in the Sumy region. Airstrikes hit Boyaro-Lezhachi in the Sumy region.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled one Russian attack near Vovchansk.

In the Kupiansk direction, the Russian army carried out two attacks on Ukrainian positions near Pishchany and Novoosynovy.

In the Lyman direction, the Russian enemy launched seven attacks on Ukrainian positions in the areas of the settlements of Zelene Hay, Hrekyivka, Ridkodub, Torske, Kolodyazi, Zelenadolina, and in the direction of Ohlivka, two clashes are still ongoing.

In the Siversk direction, Russia conducted five offensive actions in the areas of Bilohirivka and Hryhorivka, with one combat clash still ongoing.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled two storming actions by the Russian invaders. The enemy is attempting to break through near Vasukivka and Chasiv Yar.

In the Toretsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled one enemy attack near Dyliivka.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian troops made 29 attempts to push Ukrainian forces from the occupied positions in the areas of the settlements of Nova Poltavka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Myrnohrad, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Novooleksandrivka, Kotlyarivka, Troitske, Andriivka, and in the directions of Zoria and Popov Yar. The Defense Forces are holding back the onslaught and have already repelled 23 attacks by the enemy. Airstrikes hit Poltavka and Pokrovsk.

In the Novopavlivka direction, Russia attempted to break through the defense of our defenders 11 times in the areas of Kostiantynopil, Bahatyr, Rozdolne, Zelenyi Poly, Novosilka, with clashes continuing. Furthermore, the enemy carried out 5 airstrikes, dropping 10 guided bombs, and conducted 161 artillery shellings, including seven from multiple launch rocket systems.

On other fronts — no significant changes.

  • Since the evening of Sunday, May 11, the Russian army attacked Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi in the Odesa region with strike drones, injuring one person. Also, on the morning of May 12, the Russians attacked a civilian freight train in Donetsk region and infrastructure in the Sumy region.
