Russian forces intensify offensive near Vuhledar, threatening city’s supply lines - military expert Kovalenko
Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military and political analyst with the Information Resistance group, says that Russian troops have made advancements near Vuhledar, creating opportunities to launch a deeper offensive into the city
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"The situation near Vuhledar is getting more and more tense every minute. The Russian occupiers now have the opportunity to reach the Vodokanal utility near Vuhledar. This is via the 05-32 road from Travneva, Dachna and Sadova streets. In particular, in the area of cottage villages near the mines.
Vodokanal is actually the entrance gate to Vuhledar. From this location, the Russian occupiers will be able to move deeper into the city. However, this is not even the problem. The problem is that the Russians are gradually covering Vuhledar not only from the southern part, where they have already had the opportunity to force the Kashlahach River, but also from the eastern and northern parts of the city," Kovalenko said.
According to the expert, Russian forces are trying to surround the city of Vuhledar from all directions.
"The occupiers are currently attempting to close off the western route to Vuhledar through Prechystivka, targeting Novoukrainka. This would mean our forces in Vuhledar could only receive supplies from Bohoyavlenka. However, there are complications. With the capture of Vodiane and advances around the Pivdennodonbaska coal mine, Russian troops could launch an offensive toward Bohoyavlenka. If the road from Bohoyavlenka to Vuhledar is cut off or if the village of Bohoyavlenka is taken, Vuhledar could indeed be surrounded," he added.
- On September 24, DeepState reported that the Russian army is trying to raze Vuhledar, Donetsk region, to the ground. The situation around the city is "critical and continues to deteriorate."
