Russia guides U.S. on ways to pressure Ukraine – Diplomat Chaly on Saudi Arabia talks
Diplomat Valeriy Chaly, Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center, stated that two highly experienced intelligence officers from the Russian side participated in negotiations with the Americans—both of whom have played a significant role in fueling Russia's war against Ukraine
He shared this information during a broadcast on Espreso.
"The information available in the public domain reflects reality no more than 5-10%. It is evident that the range of topics discussed between the Russians and the Americans is much broader, covering many aspects, including Ukraine’s internal politics. Clearly, while making demands, the Russian side is also, in my opinion, acting as a technical advisor for the Americans on how to pressure Ukraine. I draw this conclusion based on who took part in the 12-hour conversation with the Americans," the diplomat noted.
According to him, the Russian side was represented by two highly experienced intelligence officers—Karasin and Beseda—who have played a significant role in escalating the war against Ukraine. Their actions and network of agents were instrumental in the war’s expansion. They are "hawks," but they share another common trait: both are under U.S. sanctions and both are skilled in recruitment.
"Unfortunately, I cannot say what agreements were reached. Everything should be documented, just as in the 'grain deal,' where two parallel agreements were signed. But here, not even that was done. For now, the U.S. is acting as an intermediary with goals that do not align with those of Ukraine and its European partners. This will still need to be coordinated. I can’t even tell you from which day a ceasefire will begin. I heard a statement about when it is supposed to take effect, but the Russians have already denied it. This only confirms the fact that the Americans still have a learning curve ahead—they will eventually realize how the Russians lie, fail to uphold agreements, and constantly try to raise the stakes in negotiations. The Americans will come to understand this," Chaly concluded.
- On March 25, Riyadh hosted the second stage of talks between Ukraine and the United States, with the participation of Russia. The main agreements were to ensure the safety of navigation in the Black Sea and to develop measures to prevent attacks on the energy system.
