Russia executes 93 Ukrainian POWs directly on battlefield - Prosecutor General's Office
The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has information about the execution of 93 Ukrainian prisoners of war on the battlefield by Russian troops
Yuriy Belousov, head of the Department for Combating Crimes Committed in the Context of Armed Conflict of the Prosecutor General's Office, said this during a telethon.
‘We now have information about the deaths of 93 of our soldiers who were executed on the battlefield,’ he said.
Belousov noted that 80% of executions were recorded in 2024. According to him, this trend began to emerge in November last year: ‘there were changes in the attitude of Russian military personnel towards our prisoners of war for the worse.’
At the same time, the head of the department said that on Thursday, October 3, he received more information about the execution of a Ukrainian prisoner of war.
‘A video of the possible brutal execution of another serviceman was shared on Telegram channels. We immediately registered another criminal proceeding with the SBU Main Investigation Department,’ he said.
- On September 3, Russian invaders shot three Ukrainian soldiers who had surrendered in the Toretsk sector at close range.
- On October 1, it was reported that Russian troops had shot 16 Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Pokrovsk sector near the villages of Mykolaivka and Sukhyi Yar. Ukraine has launched an investigation into the violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder.
