Russia employs new tactics in July 8 missile attack, says aviation expert
Aviation expert and leading researcher at the State Aviation Museum Valeriy Romanenko notices that Russia lowered the altitude of its missiles during the attack on Kyiv on July 8
He spoke about this on Espreso TV.
"The Russian missile attack on July 8 used new tactics, although they're not entirely new in general. They used missiles flying at even lower altitudes, slightly reducing their height. The 'radio horizon' is a physical concept: if a missile flies at 50 meters high, a radar station can detect it from 40 kilometers away. The missile covers this distance in just a few minutes. During this short time, the military unit must be alerted, target the missile with a radar, give the command to destroy it, launch a counter-missile, and intercept it to prevent it from escaping the strike zone," explained the aviation expert.
According to him, Ukraine needs to be extremely responsive. Even a slight delay for any reason could allow a missile to evade the coverage of the anti-aircraft missile system.
"In summary, during the attack on Kyiv, one or two missiles successfully hit their targets. Even in Israel, with its much denser and advanced air defense system, missiles made from makeshift materials like sewer pipes have still managed to hit Israeli cities. No air defense system, not even the American one, can guarantee a hundred percent interception success," emphasized Valeriy Romanenko.
