Russia discredits Europe over three key issues — journalist
Russia's strategy to split Europe and shatter transatlantic unity with the U.S. is backfiring, as European nations have rallied together to support Ukraine
Rostyslav Khotyn, Radio Svoboda editor and international journalist, stated this on Espreso TV.
"Regarding Lavrov's statements about Europe blocking peace, Europeans divide them by 2 or 3, maybe even 10. Russia discredits Europe because it cannot forgive three things. The first is that it cannot forgive that the war in Ukraine has united Europe, and European countries are constantly implementing sanctions packages, putting pressure on the Russian Federation. Russia is failing to divide Europe, and this has always been a Russian strategy. The second is that they cannot forgive Europe's firm and resolute support for Ukraine," the journalist noted.
According to him, the third thing Russia cannot forgive Europe for is that despite criticism from the Trump administration towards Europe, the Russians still fail to break the transatlantic unity between Europe and the United States.
"Despite anti-European sentiments from the Trump team, Europe, together with Ukraine, communicates with the United States, maintains contact, visits take place, and online meetings. That is, Europeans do not allow Russia to push Europe away from America. And these three things - the consolidation of Europe, support for Ukraine, and transatlantic unity - Russia cannot forgive Europeans, so it speaks with such small, noisy Russophobes: 'We, as a superpower, will negotiate with America, because that is our level, not some Europeans.' This Kremlin strategy is failing," Khotyn emphasized.
