The Mariupol City Council reported this.
The mosaic panel "Metallurgists" was created by the famous monumentalists Valentin Konstantinov and Lel Kuzminkov in 1974. In 2023, Russian occupation authorities announced the start of dismantling the railway station, during which the mosaic was destroyed.
The city council noted that in June 2019, the "Metallurgists" mosaic was exhibited at the UN headquarters in New York.
"The invaders boast on propaganda channels about the "restoration" of the destroyed railway station in Mariupol. In the spring of 2022, the Russians destroyed the railway station building by more than 80%," the statement said.
- Earlier, in the temporarily occupied Mariupol, Russian invaders erected a monument to a Russian soldier who took part in the capture of the city.
