Ukrainian forces target key Russian semiconductor plant in Oryol region
On the night of May 21, Russia complained about a drone attack. Ukrainian forces struck the Bolkhov Semiconductor Device Plant in Russia’s Oryol region
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported the information.
According to the military, the Bolkhov Semiconductor Device Plant is one of Russia’s leading enterprises in the development and production of semiconductor devices and components. Its main areas of activity include the manufacturing of semiconductors, microelectronics, power electronics, diodes and diode assemblies, microchips for pulse power supplies, optoelectronic switches, and servo drives.
The plant supplies products to at least 19 enterprises within Russia’s military-industrial complex, including those involved in the production of Sukhoi aircraft, Iskander and Kinzhal missiles.
“Despite being under international sanctions, the plant produces nearly 3 million devices annually and employs around 700 people. The target area was confirmed to have been hit by ten drones. A fire was reported. Detailed information on the aftermath of the strike is being clarified,” the post says.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry reported the attack.
In the period from 8:00 p.m. to 04:05 a.m., 127 drones were allegedly intercepted and destroyed by regular air defense systems:
- 41 over the territory of the Bryansk region,

- 6 over the territory of the Moscow region,
- 5 over the territory of the Vladimir region,
- 3 over the territory of the Ryazan region,
- one each over the territories of the Belgorod, Tula, Kaluga regions and over the Black Sea.
The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andrii Kovalenko, noted that the drones attacked Russian military-industrial complex enterprises, in particular in the Oryol region.
Later, the governor of the Oryol region, Andrey Klychkov, said that a semiconductor plant in the city of Bolkhov was damaged by a UAV attack.
- Russian long-range Shahed-136 'kamikaze' drones are now being equipped with two new types of combined warheads — one made in Russia and the other in Iran.
