
Russia claims to have downed nearly 50 drones targeting oil depots, military facilities
Russia says it shot down 47 allegedly Ukrainian drones across seven regions overnight on March 22. The attack may have targeted an explosives plant in the Samara region and an oil depot in Rostov
The Russian Defense Ministry reports.
They say that that night 12 drones were allegedly destroyed over the Voronezh region, 11 over the Belgorod region. Six drones were allegedly destroyed over the territory of Rostov region, four over Volgograd region, three over Astrakhan region, and one over Bryansk, Kursk, and Samara regions. Another 7 drones were allegedly destroyed over the Black Sea, and one over the Sea of Azov.
Russian Telegram resources reported that in Rostov-on-Don, a drone allegedly hit a residential high-rise building. The acting governor of the region, Yuriy Slyusar, said that the attack allegedly resulted in injuries.
Explosions were also heard in the Salsky district of Rostov region, where the oil depot is located. Local residents heard at least 5 explosions.
According to the Russian Rostov region, in the city of Salsk, the wreckage of a drone fell on the roadway. Glass was broken in a store, an art museum and an apartment building nearby.
In total, drones allegedly attacked five locations in the region: Rostov, Salsk, Millerovsky, Chortkivsky and Sholokhovsky districts. Millerovo, in particular, is home to the Millerovo military airport, from where Russia launches planes into Ukraine.
Explosions were also heard in the Samara region. According to the local governor, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, a drone was allegedly shot down over the region, trying to attack an industrial enterprise in the Chapayevsky district. This is likely to be the Promsyntez plant, one of the key producers of industrial explosives in Russia.
So far, the Ukrainian side has not commented on the alleged attack on several facilities in Russia.
