Russia claims 50 drones shot down in attack on Moscow and regions

On Thursday night, June 26, Russia claimed a drone attack on Moscow and the surrounding region. In the morning, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that 50 UAVs had allegedly been shot down overnight

The Russian Defense Ministry's Telegram channel reported the "downed UAVs" at 07:54 a.m. Kyiv time.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, air defense systems allegedly intercepted and destroyed 50 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles overnight:

  • 23 UAVs over Kursk region
  • 11 UAVs over Rostov region
  • 6 UAVs over Bryansk region
  • 3 UAVs over Belgorod region
  • 3 UAVs over the Moscow region, including two heading toward Moscow
  • 2 UAVs over temporarily occupied Ukrainian Crimea
  • 1 UAV each over the Republic of Mordovia and Kaluga region

Earlier, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin claimed that drones had allegedly attacked the Russian capital. At 01:41 a.m., he wrote that Russian air defense had supposedly shot down a drone that was attacking Moscow.

Fifteen minutes later, Sobyanin reported that another drone had allegedly been shot down over the Moscow region.

On the morning of June 26, the Telegram channel VChK-OGPU published a video allegedly showing drone debris falling onto a residential complex near Vnukovo Airport.

  • Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, in coordination with other components of the Defense Forces, struck a military-industrial complex facility in the Moscow region.
