
Russia claims downing of nearly 50 drones: fiber optic plant in Mordovia may have been targeted

Thus, according to them, Russian air defense destroyed 49 allegedly Ukrainian drones that night.
In particular, 16 drones were allegedly shot down over the territory of the Voronezh region, 14 over the Belgorod region, six over the Kursk and Samara regions, and three intercepted over the territory of the Republic of Mordovia. In addition, one drone was allegedly shot down over Bryansk, Lipetsk, Orel, and Penza regions.
Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev reported the attack on the Samara region. According to him, last night drones attacked an industrial enterprise in the city of Chapayevsk. A fire broke out there and they are trying to put it out. However, there are allegedly no casualties.
In addition, the capital of Mordovia, Saransk, was also attacked that night. One of the enterprises there was also hit, as confirmed by the head of Mordovia, Artem Zdunov.
According to the Russian Telegram channel Baza, the drones hit Russia's only fiber optic plant, Fiber Optic Systems. A fire broke out there.
It is worth noting that Russians use fiber optics to produce drones that are resistant to jamming by electronic warfare.
