Russia can only be defeated through military means, not diplomacy — Lithuanian spy agency
Darius Jauniškis, the chief of the Lithuanian Department of State Security (DSS), believes that despite the U.S. desire to end the war in Ukraine through diplomacy, Russia can only be defeated through military means
LRT reported the information.
He made the statement during the presentation of the national security threat assessment prepared by Lithuanian intelligence and the Second Investigation Department (AOTD).
“Russia can only be defeated through military means, not diplomacy, unfortunately,” Jauniškis stated at the press conference.
The report also notes that a peaceful resolution to the war against Ukraine is unlikely in the near future.
“We see Russia's unwillingness to end this war; Russia is undoubtedly trying to end the war only on terms favorable to itself,” he added. “In our assessment, Russia will not rely on diplomacy, but only on brute force, attempting to seize as much territory as possible or occupy all of Ukraine, claiming it is simply defending itself against the threat of NATO.”
According to the Lithuanian intelligence report, international pressure has not changed Russia's position, and its growing ties with Iran and North Korea demonstrate Moscow's willingness to cooperate with any allies to confront the West.
- On February 19, the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense announced a new military aid package for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
