Russian drone attack on Ukraine leaves over 50 injured in Kharkiv
Since the evening of Friday, May 2, Russian forces have launched attack drones against Ukraine. In Kharkiv, strikes resulted in civilian casualties

Attack on Kharkiv
On the evening of May 3, Kharkiv came under a massive drone attack.
At around 9:30 p.m., Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported an explosion heard in the city.
“Kharkiv is under attack by Russian UAVs. An explosion was heard in the city. Be careful - there are still Saheds coming to Kharkiv!” he warned.
The Regional Military Administration later added that residents of one of Kharkiv's districts heard powerful explosions. Before that, the Air Force warned that a Russian drone was hovering over the city.
Around 9:45 p.m., Terekhov clarified that as a result of the Russian attack on Kharkiv, a UAV was seen falling in two districts of the city. According to the Regional Military Administration, it was in the Slobidskyi district. The consequences were being investigated.
“An apartment building was damaged as a result of the shelling of Kharkiv by Russian drones. Cars are burning near it,” the mayor added at about 10:10 p.m.
According to the head of the Regional Military Administration Syniehubov, as of 10:10 p.m., three people were injured in the Russian shelling of Kharkiv. Later, the number increased to six. The injured are being treated by medics.
An apartment building was damaged in the Saltivskyi district of the city and cars are on fire.
At 10:35 p.m., 17 strikes were recorded in different locations in Kharkiv. Preliminary reports also indicated a Russian UAV hit a private house. The number of injured has risen to 12.
The head of the regional state administration, Oleh Syniehubov, said that as a result of the massive attack, the number of wounded had increased to 28 as of 10:57 p.m. Specialized services are eliminating the consequences of the Russian attack. The injured are being provided with medical aid. At this time, the first consequences of the strikes were known in 4 districts of the city:
Slobidskyi district
- As a result of the drone attack, fires broke out and private cars were damaged.
Kyivskyi district
- The crash of a Russian drone was recorded. The consequences are currently being investigated.
Osnovianskyi district
- A house and a shop were damaged by a blast wave and drone debris, and a fire broke out. In addition, the roof of a 9-story building is on fire.
Saltivskyi district
- A drone hit the ground. A multi-story building and cars parked in the yard were also damaged.
At 11:02 p.m., Syniehubov informed that the number of victims had increased to 35, including 7 people hospitalized.
“The number of victims has increased to 40,” Terekhov wrote at 11:21 pm. Later, 43 people were reported injured in the attack, and 8 people remained under medical supervision.
As of 11:50 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 46 people were reported injured in Kharkiv.
“Among the injured is an 11-year-old child who suffered an acute stress reaction,” wrote the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov.
According to the State Emergency Service, as of 11:40 p.m., 44 people were reported injured. As a result of hits and falling debris, 10 fires were reported in different districts of the city: Slobidskyi, Osnovianskyi, Saltivskyi and Kyivskyi districts. Private and multi-apartment residential buildings, warehouses, industrial facilities, vehicles and infrastructure were on fire.
The State Emergency Service units continued to eliminate the consequences and inspect the hit sites. The information was being updated.
At half past one in the morning on Saturday, May 3, Oleh Syniehubov wrote that the number of victims had risen to 47.
“Almost fifty people were injured as a result of a massive attack by the occupiers. Among them is an 11-year-old child. There are currently 8 moderately injured people in hospitals in the city. 47 people are currently known to have been wounded in the UAV attack on Kharkiv,” he said.
The head of the Regional Military Administration added that medical aid was being provided to all the victims, and that the State Emergency Service was promptly eliminating the consequences of the massive attack despite the possibility of repeated shelling.
As of the morning of April 3, according to the regional prosecutor's office, the number of victims in Kharkiv had increased to 51. Among them are two children - girls aged 11 and 16.
They said that that night the enemy used at least 15 UAVs, preliminary, of the Geranium-2 type.

A few minutes after midnight on May 3, the President of Ukraine showed photos from the sites of the strikes in Kharkiv on his Telegram channel.
“Right now Russia is attacking Ukraine once again. Kharkiv was attacked by dozens of Shaheds. Residential buildings, businesses, and civilian infrastructure have been damaged. As of now, we know about more than 40 victims. Rescuers and relevant services are working everywhere,” he wrote.

Zelenskyy emphasized that there were no military targets at the sites of the strikes “and there could not have been.”
“Russia is striking residential areas when Ukrainians are at home, when they are putting their children to bed. Only non-humans can give such orders and execute them. As long as the world drags its feet, almost every night in Ukraine turns into a nightmare that costs lives. Ukraine needs to strengthen its air defense. We need strong and real solutions from our partners: The United States, Europe, all our partners who want peace. Only force and sanctions will make Russia stop,” he added.

Zaporizhzhia region: explosions were heard, air defense was operating
The threat of drone attacks on the Zaporizhzhia region was reported at 10:49 pm. The threat of ballistic missile attacks was also announced in the region.
At 11:11 p.m., the head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration Ivan Fedorov wrote about the work of air defense. Half an hour later, explosions were heard in the region again.
Explosions in Cherkasy, Kyiv and Mykolaiv
At 3:05 a.m., Suspilne reported that explosions were heard in Cherkasy and on the outskirts of the city.
At 3:55 a.m., Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych reported explosions in the city.
In addition, it was noisy in Kyiv around 06:00. The head of the Kyiv City Administration said that air defense was operating in the city.
As it became known in the morning, that night Russian drones attacked Mykolaiv, and industrial infrastructure was hit. There were no casualties.
