
Russian drone attack on Ukraine injures civilians, sparks fires in Kyiv, Mykolaiv

Air defense operation in Zaporizhzhia
At 8:15 p.m., Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported an ongoing air defense operation and urged civilians to stay in safe places until the all-clear was given.
Air defense operations in Kyiv city and region
At 9:51 p.m., the Kyiv Regional Military Administration confirmed the detection of UAVs, prompting the activation of air defense systems.
Shortly before midnight, Kyiv City Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported air defense activation on the left bank of the city, with multiple drones spotted.
At 00:20 a.m., Kyiv City Military Administration head Tymur Tkachenko confirmed that debris from downed drones caused a fire in a non-residential building in Holosiivskyi district, with emergency responders en route.
By 00:29 a.m., Kyiv City Military Administration confirmed continued air defense efforts.
At 00:41 a.m., Klitschko reported that drone debris had fallen on warehouse grounds in Holosiivskyi district, igniting fires, though no casualties were reported.
In the morning, the State Emergency Service updated that private houses and cars in Darnytskyi district were damaged, with one outbuilding completely destroyed. Two women sought medical attention for minor injuries and stress reactions, treated on the spot.
A warehouse also caught fire in Holosiivskyi district as a result of the attack.
Explosions in Mykolaiv
At 2:52 a.m., Suspilne reported explosions in Mykolaiv.
By 3:06 a.m., Vitaliy Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, confirmed that two fires had started in the city as a result of the Russian attack. Kim added that there were casualties, with two people hospitalized and others receiving treatment on the spot.
On the morning of April 10, Kim reported that nine apartment buildings, three cars, 30 garages, and an administrative building were damaged by debris and blast waves. Fires also broke out in an apartment and at a garage cooperative but were quickly extinguished.
Kim confirmed that 10 people were wounded in the Shahed drone attack. As of the morning, a 29-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man were in moderate condition in the hospital, while the others were treated on an outpatient basis.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine shared images showing the damage caused by the attack.
As of 8:10 a.m., Iliana Patsiuk, a spokeswoman for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv region, told Espreso TV that there had been numerous explosions, fires, and significant damage in one of the city's residential areas.
"To provide more details, a first-floor apartment caught fire when a UAV fell. Fortunately, there were no people inside, so no one was injured. However, we know that 10 people were injured in this attack at different locations. Three of them were hospitalized, and one was discharged this morning. I hope this number won't rise, but it may change. Additionally, two cars were completely burned, and many others were damaged — currently, we know that 30 cars were affected. Some people were also trapped in their apartments; for instance, we had a woman and her three children locked in a private house, but the door was eventually opened, and fortunately, no one was harmed. Many people are still in shock from what happened overnight," she said.
Aftermath of Russia’s attack on Poltava region
According to Volodymyr Kohut, head of the Poltava Military District Administration, debris from the attack was reported to have fallen in one of the region’s communities. Later, local residents reported damage to an outbuilding.
"A man suffered light injuries. He refused to be hospitalized," added Kohut.
