
Russia-U.S. negotiations lasting 6.5 hours conclude in Istanbul
On Thursday, February 27, Russian and American representatives held talks in Istanbul for 6.5 hours to discuss issues related to the operation of their embassies
At 3:22 p.m., the Russian news agency TASS reported that negotiations between Russian and American representatives had concluded after 6.5 hours. The Russian delegation left the venue without making any comments.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov reported that, in relation to the high-level diplomatic meeting between Russia and the U.S. in Istanbul, it’s not yet the right time to "jump ahead," and details about the outcomes of the talks will be shared later.
"Indeed, there is a meeting at the expert level today in Istanbul, with our diplomats working to develop the understanding reached during the phone call between the two presidents and the agreements made in Riyadh between the high-level delegations," Peskov told reporters.
The Russian propaganda outlet RIA Novosti first reported that representatives of the United States and the Russia had gathered at the residence of the American Consul General in Istanbul.
Announcing the meeting, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed hope that the talks would make it clear how both sides “will be able to move quickly and effectively” in resolving issues.
