
Russia amasses forces along Ukraine’s eastern border, aiming for Sumy region - Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Russian army is amassing forces along Ukraine's eastern border, indicating an intention to strike the Sumy region
He shared the information on Telegram.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, briefed the president on the defense of positions in Donetsk and other areas of the front.
"I am grateful to all Ukrainian units for their resilience and effectiveness in destroying the occupiers. The situation in the Pokrovsk sector has been stabilized," Zelenskyy said.
He noted that the operation of Ukrainian forces in designated areas of the Kursk region continues, and "units are carrying out tasks exactly as needed." Thanks to the Ukrainian forces in Kursk, a significant number of Russian forces were diverted from other directions, and Ukrainian troops continue to hold back the respective groupings of Russia and North Korea in Kursk, the president added. According to him, there is no encirclement of Ukrainian forces in this direction.
Zelenskyy stated that Russia is accumulating forces along Ukraine's eastern border, indicating an intention to strike the Sumy region.
"We also see areas along our eastern border where the Russian army is amassing forces. This points to an intention to strike our Sumy region. We understand this and will counter it. I would like all our partners to understand what Putin is planning, what he is preparing for, and what he will ignore. The accumulation of Russian forces indicates that Moscow intends to continue ignoring diplomacy. Russia's prolongation of the war is obvious. We are ready to provide our partners with all the real information regarding the situation on the front, in the Kursk region, and along the border," he noted.

- On March 12, the State Border Guard Service reported that Russian forces were attempting to break through the Ukrainian border in the Sumy region and encircle the Ukrainian troops stationed in the Kursk.
- The meeting of the Defense Council of the Sumy region decided on the mandatory evacuation of residents from 8 settlements in the Yunakivka and Myropil communities.
