Rubio stresses need for continued direct Ukraine-Russia talks

This was stated in a press release by U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce.

"Secretary Rubio underscored the importance of continued direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to achieve a lasting peace," Bruce said.

The two officials also discussed the situation in the Middle East, U.S. support for Israel in its fight against Hamas, and efforts to prevent Iran from developing or acquiring nuclear weapons.

On June 4, Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington. They talked about meetings with Russia in Istanbul and the next steps in the negotiations.
