Terrorist attack in Moscow's Crocus: Kremlin explains Putin's version of Ukraine's alleged trace

Russian officials, including the Secretary of the Security Council, the Director of the FSB, and the President's Spokesman, echoed Putin's claims of a "Ukrainian trail" and Western involvement in the recent terrorist attack near Moscow

According to Mayak radio, Putin's spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, elaborated on Putin's stance.

Putin's spokesperson was asked about detecting a "Ukrainian connection" to the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall mall, despite Ukraine being led by a Jew. The Kremlin representative replied that Zelenskyy is "a particular kind of Jew" who shows “sympathy and attraction to the nationalist spirit prevalent in the Kyiv regime's leadership.”

"While the investigation continues, official authorities cannot make statements on this matter. However, I suggest carefully reading Putin's recent statements, as they are significant in this context."

The Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Patrushev, whose statement was published by TASS, was even more explicit.

In an online video, Patrushev was asked: "ISIL or Ukraine?" He responded, "Of course, Ukraine!"

The director of the FSB, Alexandr Bortnikov, also claimed that radical Islamists prepared the terrorist attack, facilitated by Western and Ukrainian special services:

"We believe that the action was prepared by radical Islamists themselves, with involvement from Western special services, and direct involvement from Ukrainian special services."

When asked if "the United States, Great Britain, and Ukraine are truly behind the terrorist attack," Bortnikov replied, "I believe so."

• During a concert at the Crocus City Hall shopping center near Moscow on March 22, individuals wearing camouflage attire carried out a shooting, resulting in over 130 confirmed fatalities and numerous injuries. The FSB claims to have apprehended the suspects.
• Beginning March 7, American diplomats issued warnings regarding potential terrorist threats in Moscow, the capital of Russia. Similar alerts were subsequently issued by officials from several Western nations.
• On March 23, Putin commented on the terrorist attack, suggesting that Ukraine facilitated the entry of terrorists responsible for the incident in Moscow.
• During a meeting with security forces on March 25, Putin acknowledged that the terrorist attack was perpetrated by "radical Islamists," but attributed responsibility for the shooting to "those who are fighting Russia on behalf of the Kyiv regime."
