Protection gives soldiers confidence to defend their country, says General Wolski
When a soldier knows that he is protected, that medical care is available and that he will be taken care of if he is injured, he is much more willing to say: "Okay, I will go and defend my country"
Reinhard Wolski, a retired Bundeswehr general and chairman of the Berlin Security Conference, said this in an interview on Espreso TV.
He answered how to strengthen the troops in Ukraine.
"The key is to convince young people who are able to fight that they are defending democracy, that they are fighting for what is right, and for a just and democratic state. Financial incentives may play a role, but that alone is not enough," Wolski said.
He added that it is equally important that the technologies used by Ukraine are modern and effective, protecting the lives of servicemen as much as possible.
"It is also essential that the technology used by Ukraine be superior, in order to protect the lives of military personnel as much as possible. It is not just about the number of soldiers, but about having the technological edge that provides an advantage and safeguards those who serve.
If soldiers know that they are protected, that medical services are functioning, and that they will be cared for, then they are more likely to say: Okay, I will go and defend my country," the general summed up.
