Relentless pressure: DeepState on Russian advances in Lyman direction
Roman Pohorilyi, co-founder and analyst of the DeepState project, spoke about the situation on the Lyman front, where Russian forces continue their offensive actions
He shared this during an interview on Hromadske Radio.
According to him, the front line on the Lyman direction has shifted as the Russians advance near Nevske. They have come close to the town of Katerynivka and are attempting to storm it. The same situation applies to the settlement of Novе.
"This pressure does not stop. They are ramping up infantry and drone forces. It’s tough there. I hope the situation will stabilize to first stop the enemy’s momentum. When they have success and spot weak points, they start exploiting them. This development began with the loss of Nevske, Ivanky, and the general organization of a bridgehead on the right bank of the Zherebets River. We will watch how events unfold, but for now, they are not very favorable," emphasized Roman Pohorilyi.
The analyst explained that the Russians are currently advancing because they saw an opportunity. However, a closer look at this movement shows that the push toward Katerynivka and Novе allows them to reach higher ground. It is likely they will attempt to move into the rear of Hrekyvka, Pohorilyi predicts.
He explained that reaching the higher ground could give the Russians an advantage. There, they could deploy strike systems and shell areas near the Oskil River. However, these are very long-term prospects. Roman Pohorilyi expressed hope that these possibilities are unlikely to be realized.
- Over the past month, the situation in the Lyman direction has deteriorated—at times, one Ukrainian soldier faces up to ten Russian troops.
