Pope Leo XIV renews call to end war, highlights Ukraine at Vatican audience
On Wednesday, May 28, at St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican, Pope Leo XIV renewed his call to end the war in Ukraine. The statement came at the conclusion of his general audience

“These days, my thoughts often turn to the people of Ukraine, who have suffered from renewed heavy shelling targeting civilians and infrastructure,” Pope Leo XIV said.
The pontiff also expressed his “closeness and prayers for all the victims, especially children and families.”
“I strongly renew my appeal to stop the war and to support every initiative aimed at dialogue and peace. I ask everyone to join in prayer for peace in Ukraine and everywhere people are suffering from war,” he added.
