Pokrovsk direction requires most intense response to Russian forces - Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy heard a report from Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi on the frontline situation and held a meeting with representatives of the Defense Ministry
He said this in an evening video address on August 2.
Thus, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported to the president on the situation at the front, in particular in the Pokrovsk direction.
"There are invariably the most difficult battles there, and this area requires our most intense responses to the invaders," Zelenskyy emphasized.
"Each brigade, each unit in the Pokrovsk sector — all our soldiers who remain steadfast there and defend our positions despite Russian assaults - largely hold the basis of defense in the entire east of our country. At the same time, we do not reduce our attention to all other areas on the frontline - in Donetsk, Kharkiv and southern regions," he added.
There was also a report by Ukrainian military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov, the details of which the president will not disclose.
In addition, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov reported to the president and spoke about the details of cooperation with Turkey, including the construction of Ukrainian corvettes.
"We are preparing new, absolutely modern solutions for our soldiers, which will remove a lot of bureaucracy and paperwork from the units. These solutions will be presented soon," Zelenskyy said following a meeting with the Defense Ministry.
- According to the General Staff, 72 combat engagements have taken place at the front since the beginning of the day on August 2, 25 of them in the Pokrovsk sector.
