This was reported by Bloomberg.
According to John Plumb, head of the US Department of Defence's Space Policy Division, the United States has been actively involved in cooperation with the government of Ukraine and SpaceX to counter Russia's illegal use of Starlink terminals.
"At this time we have successfully countered Russian use, but I am certain Russia will continue to try and find ways to exploit Starlink and other commercial communications systems," Plumb said.
He stressed that the US has found "good solutions with both Starlink and Ukraine".
At the same time, Plumb refused to specify what tactics, methods or procedures are being used to stop Russia from using the terminals. Ukrainian government officials did not comment.
- On February 11, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine confirmed that Russian troops are using the Starlink satellite internet platform of SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk, in the war in Ukraine. The businessman denied this information. Later, Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate said that Russia was buying Starlink from Arab countries.
- Ivan Stupak, a military expert and Ukrainian Security Service officer from 2004-2015, believes that Elon Musk can personally disconnect Russians from Starlink, and the head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation said that Ukraine knows how to disable Starlink in the occupied territory.
- In March, US House Democrats launched an investigation into Elon Musk's SpaceX company over Russia's alleged use of Starlink at the frontline.
