Over 70% of wounded Ukrainian military return to service - Medical Forces Commander
The Commander of the Medical Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Anatoliy Kazmirchuk says that over 70% of wounded soldiers return to service after treatment
Anatoliy Kazmirchuk said this in an interview with Ukrinform.
“These are average statistics. You understand that the numbers may differ in different areas of the frontline. We can say that these 70% of servicemen are, in fact, the backbone of the military contingent,” Kazmirchuk said.
He also noted that a combat medic is a very vulnerable category of servicemen who are currently not subordinated to the Medical Service of the Medical Forces Command, but to units of branches and types of Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to Kazmirchuk, in addition to having a backpack with the necessary medical supplies to provide the necessary assistance, a combat medic also performs the duties of an ordinary soldier with full combat equipment.
The commander of the Medical Forces also said that currently only 10% of combat medics have medical education.
“There (on the battlefield - ed.) it is about saving lives, not about treatment. Therefore, we say that when a soldier is trained, he is saved,” Kazmirchuk added.
- In May, Oleksiy Bezhevets, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's recruiting commissioner, named the positions that are in the greatest demand at recruiting centers, including combat medics.
