Over 140 clashes per day: Ukraine's General Staff names hottest frontline areas

Over the last day, 141 firefights took place at the front. Russian forces are advancing in the Pokrovsk direction, and have intensified their activity near Lyman and Kurakhove

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this as of 08:00 a.m. on July 8.

According to the updated information, over the past day, Russia launched two missile attacks on the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas using three missiles, 80 air strikes, involving 111 combat aircraft. In addition, it carried out more than 4,000 attacks, including 110 using MLRS.

Russia launched air strikes near 13 settlements across Ukraine.

Over the past day, the aviation, missile forces and artillery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted 11 airstrikes on Russian forces, destroyed one control center, one air defense facility, three manpower concentration areas, one R-441 Liven communication station, and one Protivnik-GE radar station.

Frontline update 

In the Kharkiv sector, the Russian army continued its offensive. Five combat clashes took place near Liptsy, Starytsia, Hlyboke and Vovchansk.

In the Kupyansk sector, the number of attacks amounted to 13 over the last day. Ukraine's Defense Forces repelled all Russian assaults near Synkivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Pishchane, and Stelmakhivka.

In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 16 Russian attacks near Nevske, Hrekivka, Makiivka, and Terny.

In the Siversk sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled three assault attacks near Verkhniokamianske.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Ukrainian troops stopped five Russian attempts to break through the defense near Kalynivka, Hryhorivka, and Chasiv Yar.

In the Toretsk sector, the Russian army launched nine unsuccessful attacks near the towns of Pivnichne and Toretsk.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 52 assault attacks nearNew York, Prohres, Vozdvyzhenka, Novooleksandrivka, Kalynove, Lozuvatske, Novoselivka Persha, and Yasnobrodivka, where the Russian troops, supported by aviation, tried to force Ukrainian units out of their positions.

In the Kurakhove sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled Russian attacks near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Paraskoviivka, and Kostiantynivka, where the invading army tried to break through defense 19 times.

In the Vremivka sector, Russian troops made 10 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Vodiane, Kostiantynivka, and Makarivka.

In the Orikhiv sector, five combat clashes took place near Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne.

In the Kherson sector, Russian troops are trying to drive the Ukrainian Defense Forces units from their positions at the bridgeheads. Four Russian attacks have failed.

On the border with Belarus, the operational situation hasn't changed significantly, with no signs of Russian offensive groups forming.

On the border of the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the Russian army maintains its military presence, shells populated areas from the territory of Russia, and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine.

At the same time, Ukrainian soldiers are inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the invading Russian forces, depleting them along the entire front line.
